About the Region
The University of Texas at El Paso has a deep connection to the community it serves – a burgeoning county in far West Texas with a population of more than 800,000.
El Paso is a highly livable, bicultural community that has been named among the safest large cities in the United States. Shielded by mountains and boasting 300 days of sunshine per year on average, El Paso has earned the nickname “the Sun City.”
The city is also home to Fort Bliss, one of the fastest growing posts in the Army.
El Paso’s active arts and culture community features the state’s longest running symphony orchestra, a nationally recognized chamber music festival, art galleries, history museums, and a full schedule of seasonal festivals and events.
